It doesn’t matter if I am standing in a field of wildflowers or on the sidewalk of a quaint little town or have my toes in a sandy beach, making art is in my soul. Streams of light flooding a doorway, multicolored sunsets, petals sprinkled with iridescent dust pull at my creative side. Then there are those dancing reflections, tired old buildings and crashing waves that tease me, asking if I have time to paint them all.
Trudging out on location with art supplies in my backpack, searching the countryside for scenes to paint makes for a perfect day. If the weather is bad, I can pull out photos I’ve taken of favorite spots or search the house for pieces to an intimate still life. I want to be comforted by the images I create and hope the viewer can sense my serenity.
In a quest to better myself, I have studied under regional and national artists meshing them together to form my own style. My efforts with oils and pastels have led to numerous exhibitions, awards and commissions.
